Excellent review from tasters
When making my first batch of whiskey with this essence, I used just a little over half the recommended amount. After 5 months in an charred oak barrel, the flavor was excellent. Several people have tasted the whiskey and all thought it was great. When I make the next batch in the same barrel, I will use the recommended amount of essence to make up for the loss of char from the first batch.
Aging in a charred oak barrel gives the whiskey a smooth taste. The longer you age, the smoother it gets. I only drink my whiskey "on the rocks". A smooth whiskey is a must. I am very happy with this product and will continue to use it.

Not a good flavor
Very liitle to no bourbon flavor. Taste is overpowered by a strong floral essence. Very dissapointed. Tried to tune this essence up but still had no success.

Decent enough and good as a base
The glycerin flavor is too prominent. If you use it at half strength and do classic style flavorings such as "medium toast" oak chips and/or a portion of a "middle cut" (no fores or feints) that is not polished or double distilled, then you wind up with a nice corn whiskey with other complex flavors.
Adding medium toast sugar maple wood chunks provides some nice depth as well.
It requires work to "tune" this flavor ... this shouldn't be the case with flavors.
The Legend Canadian Whiskey essence "Crown Royal" copy is a better choice and requires no tuning (or very little.)
This however does provide a different direction in flavors than the "Legend" and offers that full sour mash corn whiskey flavor whereas the other does not.
