Oak Barrels

Brewhaus offers two levels of oak barrels- Economy Barrels and Premium Barrels.

Economy Barrel
These barrels are often sold elsewhere as a medium charred oak barrel for aging. Due to the lighter weight staves used to make these barrels, and the relatively lighter charring, we consider these oak kegs to be a display barrel only. We do not advise using economy oak barrels from any source for aging. Slight aging may occur over time, although an economy oak barrel should be considered a stage between toasted and charred. In order to maintain such a price level, Economy Barrels are made from standard grade American White Oak.

Premium Barrel
We literally searched the world for a top-notch cooperage to produce our Premium Oak Barrels. These kegs are made exclusively for Brewhaus by a commercial cooperage in Spain who also produce oak barrels for some of the biggest names in distilling, using superior quality American White Oak, cut thicker than the economy barrels offered so readily on the internet. The result is a considerably heavier barrel capable of long term aging. Our Premium Oak Barrels are fully finished with a water-based food grade stain and varnish, and are available either Fully Charred or Toasted. They also include a pewter spigot and finished wooden stand with slots for glasses, making these oak kegs excellent for both aging and for display.
These are the real thing- a miniature commercial distillery barrel!
